Another design change which followed soon after was the replacement of the tiller and rudder control with a rudder controlled by a steering wheel, allowing the operator a comfortable forward-facing position. In order to gain speed, the hull shape had to be designed to take advantage of hydroplaning a hydrofoil-like design would allow the boat to skim atop the water's surface at high speed instead of needing to push aside large quantities of water to move forward. VINTAGE RUNABOUT BOAT FULL
While we want to keep the docks full for the show, we are looking for a few volunteers that can offer short rides on an informal basis. Lord Fletcher’s also provides the perfect place to offer boat rides to people interested in the hobby. The accessibility and fun of our hobby will be the focus of our outreach to publications and television stations as we make our PR push. As you know, there is wide misunderstanding among the general public about the cost of buying a vintage boat and the cost and complexity of upkeep. It’s important that we continue to grow the club with more new members and the next generation. We ask one thing: That you reach out to spectators and spread the word about the fun and camaraderie of vintage boating and the advantages of club membership. If we all do the right thing to stay safe, we can continue to have more awesome and well attended boat shows for the rest of 2022 and into the future! If you are feeling ill on either day, we ask that you not participate in any activities where you may be in close contact with others. The Land-O-Lakes Classic Boat Club asks that you follow these guidelines carefully as we are not responsible for any COVID transmission or infections from other participants.

We ask that you follow the State of MN guidelines for your own personal safety and for the different safety requirements for vaccinated and non-vaccinated individuals. We are really looking forward to this show for many reasons including a return to being able to have large events and gatherings once again.

Please keep your boat at the dock until the end of the show, so there is plenty to see for late-arriving spectators. The boat show opens at 9:00 AM and runs until 3:00 PM, with awards at 2:30 PM. On Saturday, please launch your boat and arrive at Lord Fletcher’s docks by 8:00 AM.
